Brook Eden Vineyard
The Winery
Established in 1988 on the banks of Pipers Brook in northeast Tasmania, Brook Eden is nestled in a picturesque valley of rolling green hills. The vineyard is sited along an ancient ridge of deep, gravelly, well-drained, volcanic soil, which runs down to Pipers Brook on one side and a spring-fed, native wetland on the other. The clean crisp air of the Southern Ocean tempers the heat of summer days and provides cool nights. The site, dictates that old, well-established, un-irrigated vines must struggle a little as they slowly ripen their fruit during a growing season that is one of the longest in Australia.
This long, slow ripening produces fruit with exceptional flavour and aroma, as well as an ideal balance of sugar and acid. This exceptional fruit is the key to making elegant, aromatic wines with intense varietal flavours and having distinct regional characteristics.

The Wine
Brook Eden Pinot Noir is all hand picked from a single, one-hectare block of close-planted, dry-grown vines. The decision to source the fruit for this flagship Pinot Noir from the one small block dictates this wine will only ever be available in limited quantities.
Brook Eden favours a minimal-intervention style of winemaking allowing the wine to be a true expression of that vintage’s fruit. The aim is Pinot Noir that is soft, with mouth-filling berry fruits, delightful to drink when released, but with the capacity to continue improving for years if well cellared.

Tasting Notes -
Brook Eden 2004 Pinot Noir
Fuchsia red in colour, with a hint of blue at the rim, it has dark cherry, plum and spice evident in a delightfully complex nose. Elegant, with some softer, ripe fruit tannins and just a hint of the French oak in which it was barrel fermented. It displays well-balanced natural acidity and ripe fruit, with good length of palate. Soft and delightful drinking right now, will continue to improve with further cellaring, becoming richer and more complex with time.

Delightful with Peking duck,
chicken, veal and creamy
pasta dishes. Can be served slightly
chilled and is a
perfect match with salmon or
pan seared tuna.
