| The Winery Ben's Run is a small, shiraz only vineyard, dedicated to producing premium quality wines. Situated in the well known wine growing region of the Hunter Valley, the vineyard is owned and operated by leading agribusinessman, Norman Marren. Norman is striving to ensure that the quality of the Shiraz he produces ranks with the best produced in the region. |
The Wine The fruit for the 2003 Shiraz is 100% Shiraz from the family run vineyard. It has been fermented in small 8-tonne fermenters, which were drained down and pumped over twice a day, until 5% Baume was reached. The fermentation process was closely monitored to ensure that the wine stayed between 20-25 C to allow maximum varietal expression. The wine underwent a second fermentation and was then matured in American and French oak barrels for 12 months. |
